Bringing the Coast to Life

Jeffrey Hull’s Watercolors

You’ll find Jeffrey Hull’s stunning watercolors throughout the home. In the primary bedroom, his “Reflections” beautifully captures the serene Oregon coast at sunset, with soft hues and mirrored tide pools that evoke a sense of calm. This piece perfectly complements the home’s peaceful setting, and we chose it for its ability to bring the tranquility of the coast indoors. We hope it offers you the same inspiration and relaxation that it brings us.

Chainsaw Artistry

The Story Behind Joshua Blewett’s Whale Sculpture

One of the most unique pieces in our home is the whale sculpture by local chainsaw artist Joshua Blewett. It was inspired by the fact that we can see whales in both Cannon Beach and Maui.

We actually helped Josh select the log for this sculpture! The entire piece was carved from a single 9-foot log. Watching it come to life was such a special experience, as we stopped by Josh’s studio each week on our way to Cannon Beach to see his progress.

Donnie Wanner’s Arch Rock Sculpture

When you enter The House at Arch Cape, one of the first things to greet you is Donnie Wanner’s bronze sculpture, “Arch Rock.” This stunning piece embodies the rugged beauty of the Oregon coast in vibrant, metallic hues.

Wanner’s incredible attention to detail—capturing the wind-swept trees, jagged rock formations, and the raw essence of the coastline—mirrors the very landscape surrounding us. We’re thrilled to share this work with our guests, as it reflects the powerful, untamed beauty of nature that you can experience firsthand during your stay.

His Mastery Makes the Piece Come Alive

Arcadia Oil Painting by Michael Orwick

The first thing that catches your eye when you walk up to the second floor is Michael Orwick’s “Arcadia” oil painting. It sits just above a cozy desk, so even if you need to sneak in a little work during your trip, you’ll be surrounded by the beauty of the Oregon coast.

Michael’s soft brushstrokes and the way he uses the sky to add drama to the scene, make this piece feel alive. No matter how many times we stay here, we always find new inspiration in it, and we hope it brings you the same sense of calm during your stay.
